Text messages: what PropFlow sends
Which texts go to your team and tenants, and how to check texting works.
1 min read
PropFlow can text your team and tenants about repairs, and let people sign in with a texted code. Texting works only once Twilio (the texting service) is connected. Until then, nothing is sent and nothing breaks.
What gets texted
- New repair request: to your property managers and the property's emergency maintenance phone. Emergencies also go to owners and maintenance.
- Work order assigned: to the person it's assigned to.
- Repair scheduled and repair done: to the tenant, with a link to the request. Tenants can reply STOP to opt out.
- Sign-in codes: for anyone who signs in with their cell number.
Check that texts work
- Add your cell in Settings → Your phone: enter it, click Text me a code, then enter the code and click Confirm.
- On the Text messages card, click Send me a test text.
- Wait for the result. It tells you if the text was delivered or why it failed.
Heads up: If the card says "Twilio isn't connected yet", no texts are being sent. Repair alerts still show in the app, and iPhone app users can get notifications instead.
Questions
Does PropFlow text rent reminders?
Not right now. Texts are for repairs and sign-in.
A test text failed. Why?
US carriers block texts from business numbers that aren't registered for business texting. The test result shows the carrier's reason.
